Summary: A madman seeking to claim the ultimate power
Background
Sarn is a sadomasochistic madman who delights in torturing and slaughtering people. Sarn, bent on conquest, sought out a weapon he could use to channel the power of the demons themselves directly into material form in a sword called the Vessel of Orgroth. He eventually discovered a smith who lives on the border of reality and absolute Mist capable of doing so. In exchange for such a sword, however, his price was that Sarn become his slave for ten years. The smith, however, eventually grew annoyed with Sarn’s disgusting behavior, so traded him off to various people, the last of which just randomly picked out a person in a crowd and forced Sarn to follow him as his new master. The unlucky hunter given Sarn was eventually killed after he acquired an artifact capable of brainwashing people. Unable to kill his master himself, he brainwashed one of the hunter’s companions into slaughtering the hunter, freeing Sarn from his burden.
Plot
The sword, however, has yet to be completed, as there are still 5 more months until the 10 year period is over, upon which the sword will be ready. During that time, he can join the PC, so long as they have somewhat mutual interests. Towards the last stages of the game, the sword becomes completed, and the PC can opt to take the long, arduous trek beyond the known words to find the smith and take the sword. A clause about the sword, however, is that it cannot be wielded by one who wishes to wield it. Should Sarn take it, it explodes dramatically, horribly disfiguring him even further, and removing him from the party. Should the PC take it (requiring the PC to kill Sarn and steal it from him before he can use it), it will equally fail to function at all, turning into sand, unless the PC has made specific actions to prove he does not want to use it for summoning the Orgroth. In which case, it functions as the most powerful two handed sword in the game. Of course, it’s incredibly difficult to do such. Should the PC constantly make decisions which are against Sarn’s, he will betray the PC at night in an impromptu battle. Should the PC take Sarn to the Aves, he has terrible flashbacks, as it was once his home, which could prompt him to leave the party, depending on how the PC interacted with him. Should the Wanderer be in the party at the same time as Sarn, the Wanderer reveals Sarn’s background and how he became who he is, as the two knew each other 20 years earlier, before Sarn went mad.
Equipment/Abilities
He has one of the highest strength scores in the game, and makes a perfect frontline man. He has exclusive access to dealing increased critical damage with two handed swords. He is capable of using daggers, swords, and axes. He can use light and heavy armors: boots, greaves, corselets and cuirasses, gauntlets, pauldrons, gorgets, and cloaks.
